Hi there!

My name is Lucas and I am a VERY good dog.  The Eskie rescue people came to the shelter because somebody told them I was an Eskie .  When they found out I was NOT an Eskie they liked me too much to leave me there!  I may be a Samoyed mix but I am not telling cause I like to be a man of mystery.  I am about 45 pounds and white and fluffy, but not as fluffy as those Eskies.

I am a very fun dog and like to run and play.  I can be shy when you first meet me but then I will love you ALOT and give you lots of kisses! I sometimes need some help remembering my manners, but I am a good dog and try very hard and if you work with me I will learn very fast.  I know how to go potty outside and never make mistakes and I can walk on a leash (although sometimes I want to go faster than my foster mom).  I like to be with my people, but I also like some me time in my crate, so no worries if you want me to stay there sometimes.

I recently met a family that had something called a toddler. It was fast and loud and REALLY scary and I didn't like to be near it.  I ran away and made growlies so it wouldn't follow me and pull my tail.  If you have one of those things I don't think I would like your house too much and I would be TOO scared.  I think I would like an older child who would give me nice gentle pets and play with me, so if you have one of those we can meet and see.

I have something called Heartworm disease but my foster mom says it is not a serious case and there should be no lasting damage.  ERU is treating me with something called the gentle method which will make me all better soon, and you can find more information on this page.

If you want to adopt me you need to fill out an application from ERU even though I am not an Eskie.  Just don't pay too much attention to the places where it talks about what Eskies are like because I am not like those little yappers!  If you want to contact my foster mom her email is piper.purcell@gmail.com.

More about Lucas of MD

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
