Tito Burrito
Today was such a hard day. We had to say goodbye to one of the loves of my life...Tito Burrito. Although heartbroken, we'd like to celebrate his life. He was such a little sweetheart with a huge personality. Tito came to us 9 months ago, as a foster dog. He was 11 years old then and cute as a button. He only had 5 teeth, but wasn't afraid to let you know he'd use them :) He quickly worked his way into our hearts and it wasn't long before we adopted him. Tito LOVED his walks and treats. He was the oldest dog here, but you'd never know it at walk time. We REALLY loved him because he was just so easy to love and his smile brightened every day. All was well and he seemed healthy, up until a couple weeks ago, when he developed an eye issue. He was seen by the vets, and as his eye was getting quickly worse, it was decided that the eye needed to be removed. Today he was taken for surgery and it just about broke my heart to get the call from the vets that he had very aggressive brain cancer and the only kind thing to do for him would be to let him go. We drove there immediately and held him and told him how loved he is as he passed. Its been quite a shock. You are my sweetheart Burrito Boy, always have been. We will miss you more than you know and are SO thankful that you were in our lives, if only for a while. Be free Tito, be loved and know you were such a gift to us. Til we meet again, my little boy. ......Kim Stewart, April 17, 2020

Mikey
Mikey was the first senior dog we have ever adopted. When we got him in 2015, we thought we would be his hospice fosters. Instead, he got a second wind and became happy, able to run & walk, funny and so loving. He loved to relax next to his mama and had 4 beds of his own plus a wardrobe of cute outfits to keep his mostly hairless body warm. Mikey enjoyed meeting and flirting(!) with new dogs. He loved everyone and accepted everyone, furry or not. Those almost 5 years spent with Mikey will always be a treasure in our hearts. Mikey’s spirit was bigger than the little body that cold no longer keep him. Mikey’s departure was literally announced by a stunning rainbow that shimmered and made a glittering arc across the sky. Mikey was received by his dad, and fur siblings Brescia, Davinci, Vinnie and Napoleon where they will play and live in light and love till they are joined with their mama and me...........Mayli and Maydelin Someillan, January 18, 2020

Boo
Boo The Rescued Dog Who Rescued Me....... When I began searching the Eskie Rescue site I never would have imagined that I would be the one rescued. I originally wanted a toy or ..a miniature, but fell in love with a standard size named Milo After a long procedure, Milo became mine near the end of March in 2008. He was approximately two years old, believed to have been born in February 2006. My daughter and I traveled to Somerset to pick him up. The woman from the rescue league transported him to meet us. We brought him a green stuffed platypus that he had for his entire life. I still have it. He was a sweet dog from the beginning. He was named Milo and was found traveling loose with his brother, Otis. On the way home we suggested permanent names to him. Are you Gandalf, Casper, Snowball. No response. We stopped at a rest stop and I overheard a woman calling her son Boo. When I returned to the car, I asked him, do you want to be Boo? He responded positively, and Boo he became. It was the start of an interesting almost 12 years we would spend together. Because of Boo I walked more and got more exercise We had a cottage at the lake and he enjoyed running along the beach, sitting by the fire, and making friends with everyone. It has been sad to see most of his dog friends pass. He rescued a kitten from the woods behind our house. We named her Twilight and she was his baby. She was black and he was white. They looked like a ying-yang together. Following several very difficult surgeries I had he was always by my side. One time I was choking and he looked at me and launched himself into my stomach. The food dislodged. My dog that knew to do a Heimlich. He developed the loss of his back legs about 12 months ago and bravely motivated around. I got him a cart, but he still wanted to try to walk. He would get stuck in spots in the house and I would carry him back to me This dog was the love of my life. It has been so difficult without him. Rest in peace until we meet at the bridge. Play with your friends until I meet you.....Crystal Maynard, January 11, 2020

Alpine
Alpine passed away January 1, 2020 at 12:45 AM. We came home at 9 PM to find him in distress. We took him to the emergency vet. He determined that Alpine was bleeding internally in his abdomen and was already going into renal failure. His last day was filled with happiness running on his walks........Janis and Richard Bell, January 1, 2020
