Princess was only with ERU for a few days. She was rescued from a shelter where she lost the most precious possession that she ever had, her owner. Once this happened, she lost her will to live and stopped eating and drinking. Upon taking her to the vet, it was discovered that she had an inoperable cancer which was causing her pain. But in her last few days she regained what she lost. A loving owner to see her to the rainbow bridge.
Sierra Snow's time in rescue was short lived. After being saved from a scary shelter, undergoing several surgeries and charming everyone along the way, she only knew her forever family for a few short weeks before she decided that her work on earth was done. Sierra Snow was a favorite of many and her tragic loss will be mourned by all. She taught others that no matter what, never give up hope that a furever home will be found. Her foster families and adopting family will never forget her diva personality- she now awaits at the Bridge but she is not alone. Sierra Snow was so special, she even had her own theme song- "The shelter in Pennsylvania was frightful. But the puppy, she's so delightful. And since she's found a new forever home. Let it Snow (wiggle), Let it Snow (wiggle), Let it Snow (wiggle)"
Snow White was tied to a box the first 12 years of her life until some kind person noticed her laying in her yard in the same spot. The owners relinquished the urine and feces covered dog to the concerned citizen and then she was taken to ERU. Snow was a very sick girl. She had a leaking bladder and couldn't stand from being so ill with heartworm and severe arthritis in her hind legs. Her coat had quite a few bald spots which is a sign of poor nutrition. Snow even had a secondary infection due to the urine being held against the skin caused by her lying in it. To make matters worse, Snow could not withstand the heartworm treatment and a sanctuary would not take her without being treated. Catch 22. The suffering for Snow White was getting worse so it was decided that this little girl had suffered enough. Snow White got into rescue in April, 2005 but was truly free in September, 2005.
Scrappy Doo was a playful and lovable little 18 pound fluff ball that was picked up by Detroit Animal Control. He didn't get adopted very fast in the shelter due to his 12-year old age but he did get rescued by ERU and was fostered by Gale. Scrappy loved to give Eskie kisses, ride in the car and he even got a 2-mile hike every day! Soon he was adopted by a "cops and courts reporter", Tereasa, and would sometimes go on assignments and meet the firefighters and deputies, which made everyone's day! He especially got excited when Tereasa would come home or Gale would visit. He knew belly rubs and romps in the snow were not far behind! Scrappy Doo's new, happy life wasn't to last long. He developed pancreatitis but stayed spry and playful due to medications. However, after four months and an especially painful night, Tereasa rushed him to the vet where a tumor was discovered. Little Scrappy Doo died in his owner's loving arms only 9 months after being adopted. But he will live in Tereasa's heart forever.
Sonni came into rescue with a female eskie named Jenni. Two peas in a pod. At one point, Sonni saved his foster mommy when she suffered an episode of heat stroke while in the backyard. Sonni barked and barked and barked until someone came to their aid. Once his foster mommy came back from the hospital, he never left her side. Shortly after Jenni found her forever home, Sonni suffered a sudden and extreme series of seizures. Sadly, he never recovered and crossed to the Bridge while in the arms of his foster mom. She saved him, then he saved her. Sonni found his forever home with his foster mommy and she'll never forget him. Sonni passed away on September 12, 2006. Wait for us at the Bridge, Sweet Sonni.
