Meet Lucky from New Brighton, PA (Near Pittsburgh)!
Lucky is a fun loving, HIGH energy eskie. He would love to find an owner that would be able to keep up with him. Agility training would be spectacular for him!
Lucky was turned in to the Butler County Humane Society as a stray. He was there for a couple of months and did not do very well. He became very possessive of his toys and food and would only allow 1 person to handle him.
As is the case with many shelter dogs, once Lucky was out of the shelter and in a home environment, his attitude improved greatly. He allows my husband and I to handle his food with no problems. He does guard treats that take more than a couple of seconds to eat but has never snapped at us. He will guard toys intensely but will trade for a treat if it is offered. I am working with him on this, but he cannot go to a family with small children.
Lucky has been good with our other dogs and excellent with our cats. We take him on group dog walks and he has done well with other people and animals. He is a big puller on the leash though!
He is good with training and already knows sit, down, and shake. He is very eager to please. It would be excellent if we could find someone willing to work with him.
At the vet, he does need to be muzzled. I dropped him off for his neuter surgery and had to go back to help them get a muzzle on him. He allowed me to put it on and everything was fine but apparently he was a wild man when they tried to handle him alone.
All in all, Lucky is a very happy boy. He is bouncy and fun but needs an outlet for all his energy! He is probably would be best to go to an eskie experienced home.

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.
If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers. There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
