Update 12/4/09: Hello everyone.  My foster mom wanted to give an update on my progress so far:  Lor continues to live happily here in his foster home with two other eskies and five cats.  He has become very good with basic and intermediate commands.  He does an eager but well controlled down/staaaaay for his food.  He walks very well on leash and sits/stays at curbs on command, loves riding in the car, and does not bark much.   He has gained some much-needed weight and his fur has thickened and softened.  He now weighs 36 pounds, is somewhat long-legged and has a bit of Husky-like charm about him.   He loves his walks and plays tag with exuberance off leash, but at home he is a couch potato.   On the needs improvement side, Lor has developed a distinct wariness with strangers, especially men. He sometimes growls or even barks to make sure they stay away.  He needs continued socialization work to make him less reactive in new people situations and increase his confidence.  Lor would do best in a home with experienced eskie owners who have successfully rehabilitated and trained under-socialized dogs, and can work to improve his limitations.  He is a beautiful, affectionate dog who will live happily under strong and understanding leadership. _________________________________________________________________________________

Boy, I have I had it rough lately!  But it looks like my luck is changing for the better!  I just got to my new foster home recently and the first thing my foster mom did was give me a bath and good grooming.  That felt so great!  And she even got rid of the big matts behind my ears...I can't tell you how terrific that felt!!

I was someone's pet for a while as I am housetrained and good with people.  But my foster mom thinks I was out on the streets for a while because my fur was a mess.  You can see my before photo from the shelter...what a difference, huh??!!  I'm doing really well at my new foster home with the other dogs too, although I'm still a little nervous about all the changes I have had lately. But things are looking up and I have a bright future ahead of me!

As my foster mom learns more about me, she will update my webpage, so stay tuned for more information about me.  They said I need to be neutered too, so that will be done next week.  Other than that, I am ready for my new home and new loving family!  If you think that is you, be sure to fill out an adoption application soon!

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
