Updated Nov 9th. BUDDY is a small standard at around 15 inches at the withers. He is very rotund and needs a lot of exercise to trim him down to his ideal weight. NO couch potato living for this fur kid until the excess weight is gone and the pressure is off his heart and hips. Your veterinarian will help you with the weight problem. Buddy is now on Lamb and Rice "light" and his only snacks are fresh fruit or vegetables. Of course, no onions or grapes/raisins. We went for a walk today and by "walk" I mean he was so excited he pulled me along as if I were water skiing behind an out of control boat. A little work is needed here. He met some of my friends at a local business and did not hesitiate to say "hi" to everyone, male or female. He was petted and fussed over and enjoyed every minute. He is curious about what's going on outside but does NOT bark at every passing person. My friends were so impressed with how well behaved Buddy is. I cannot take credit for that as his previous family raised exceptional Eskies. Due to hard times he was returned to ERU along with his three year companion Puff. Buddy is a complete love. His owners obviously loved him and were devastated by the decision to return him to ERU. Buddy is extremely friendly, loves to sit in my lap and also loves to stand on his hind legs and cruise along the lower cabinets to scope out the food on the counter. Th good news is he cannot reach the countertop. Buddy's only "fix it" matter is to loose some weight. As a small standard he is more than well rounded at 30# and has started on a slow, healthy diet to lose the extra pounds. Buddy likes to spring into my lap unannounced which would be OK except his sister Puff leaps at the same time. One of them always slips off. Upon entering the house he raised his leg and blessed the wallpaper. Of course his four legged host then over-blessed the wallpaper. Everything is cleaned up now and no more blessings have been annointed on my walls.Pictures will be coming soon once Buddy slows down for five seconds... It would be lovely if Buddy and Puff were adopted together but they can be separated. Both are so friendly to people and other dogs they could easily adapt separately to a new home. As sad as it is for his previous family they did an amazing job of socializing him to life. Buddy is fine with my cats, somewhat interested but not as interested as checking out foreign P-mail left by other males.
