Kiba is a lap dog if you let him. He is 10 but has so much life left to live. His favorite place in the world is the mountains. He frequently visits the Blue Ridge Parkway and loves to go in the creek. His favorite spots include the Peaks of Otter lodge and Little Otter River, as well as any lake in the region. He is great on leash, and has a great recall. He used to be a therapy dog and has retained much of his training even into his old age. His ideal home would have a yard, or woods. Maybe even chickens. He has lived on a farm with ducks, chickens and other animals his whole life up until this year. Apartment life is stressing him out a lot. He takes his duties as a livestock and home watchdog seriously and the comings and goings of apartment life stress him out tremendously. He has recently become very anxious in a crate but we credit this to him being left alone more than we would like him to be. He has no preference to men or women. He loves anyone and everyone who will give him attention. He loves squeaky fluffy toys and takes good care of his toys. He loves having his own stuffies and donut shaped pillows. His ideal family would also enjoy spending time in the woods and mountains, and let him visit the creek. He is well mannered and knows all basic commands.

We had been monitoring him for thyroid issues as he ages. Following some excessive drinking, we had a check up donw his bloodwork came back fine, but it is something we want to be aware of in the years ahead. The vet said he looks very healthy. He may be due for a deworming. He is sensitive to food changes. Chicken based foods cause him to itch, so we try to find Salmon/Lamb based foods to help him.
