Both Sterling and
Houdini are beautiful 2 year old American Eskimo littermates.  Their mom has to find a new home for them as she has recently become disabled and can no longer care for them.

This listing is for Sterling.  He is in all the pictures.  There is another listing for Houdini.  He can be seen in the last 2 pictures, the first was on their second birthday, and on the last picture Sterling is at the top of the photo.  We hope they can adopted together because they are a bonded pair but we are willing to adopt them out separately if the circumstances are right.

They understand most of your basic commands and some that aren't so basic: sit, up, leave it, stay, wait, off, no, yes, come here, let's go, go to your room, go to bed, let's head back, come around, mind your business, enough, eat, want some ice, water, out, scoot, going for a ride, get in the car etc.

Both Houdini and Sterling are full bred eskies and were purchased as puppies from a breeder.  They were never registered but can be.

Sterling and Houdini need training with walking.  Sometimes I walk them and sometimes they walk me. Our walks are tempered by how many people are out and about.

Sterling is so funny. He tickles me with his antics.  He is just a big ball of energy. I believe he would benefit from an opportunity to be involved in some type of organized activity.  Sterling (along with his brother Houdini) are great pets. And the right family would be blessed to have either or preferrably, both. They come with picture from 2 weeks old.

Sterling is not possessive with food, treats, or toys. He loves to play and be played with. He loves chew toys.

He does ok with other dogs. My sister has two Pomeranians that we babysit for days at a time. They don't play together as my sister's dogs don't play. But when we go to the dog park he plays well as long as he is not being badgered. He doesn't like to stay at the park long. He is good with any dog as long as it doesn't badger him excessively. He can be aggressive when this happens.

Sterling is a bit more touchy than his brother. He will mouth gently to let you know he's not happy with doing whatever it may be but with no aggression. I have been taking them to the same vet and groomer for some time now they are familiar with each other. He hates taking a bath. He actally whined once when I insisted on spraying him with the hose.

With adults he knows, Sterling is warm and loving. My mother stayed with me for a month while I recovered from back surgery and Sterling was the same with her as he is with me. He becomes familiar quickly. I have a new friend that he barks at when he first approaches the door but none afterwards. He will even go outside with him for bathroom outings. He won't willingly follow my friends directions. I have to reinforce. Sterling can be very stubborn.

He has never been around cats so it is unknown how he would react.  He has not been around alot of children because of his initial barking behavior, which is understandable. However, I have a couple of older children who understand him, waits him out and they have a good time. I would not recommend Sterling be around really small children but feel he would do great with 5 year olds and up.

Sterling is always looking for something to bark at. The two behave literally like two 14 year old brothers. I feel like a referee at times. While on walks when someone is approaching walking, running, or riding a bicycle/motorcycle on either side of the street; the two will actually glance over at each other to see how the other will react. More often than not, they will start barking and pulling. No reaction is a rarity. If I pull on Sterling's leash and tell them to sit, he nevr sits on first command. He reluctant sits when I say "NOW!" in my stern mommie voice. When trying to talk to someone, he barks but calms down shortly and waits patiently.

On the rare occasion I walk Sterling alone, his behavior is better. I tried Sterling on the Gentle Leader once and he acted as though he was physically ill by the time we got back home. He is the one who needs the Gentle Leader most. Recently we've been using the Gentle Leader and he caught on quickly and did not react at all to a stranger approaching.

Sterling likes to play a game where you try to take what he has in his mouth. Sometimes you will find him just walking around with a chew in his mouth. When he sits up he looks like George Burns.

He does not respond as readily to verbal commands as Houdini does. I think he is just being stubborn half the time. He desire to please is not as high as Houdini.

And this dog knows how to relax. Sometimes it seems like all the energy he's built up overflows and he starts running through the house like a mad dog barking. He looks plumb crazy. He is also the one who comes to let you know when they are barking at something outside. We also play a game where I say "Gonna get your booty" and they try to run away before I can tap it. Little stuff like that. But the best time is when we all lay around on the bed and Sterling snuggles with me like he is a baby and we play footsie.
