Beckham Hello, My name is Rachel, I am Beckham’s foster mom. It sounds like this little guy's owner got sick and couldn’t keep him and gave him to a friend and they kept him for about three months before surrendering him. He was neutered about a month ago. He is so completely sweet and eager to please. It seems like he was left alone and kenneled a lot, they had three small children and maybe didn’t give him the time or attention he needed. He has been an absolute treat for us, he acts thrilled to be part of the pack and given love! I think he’d do excellent in almost any environment as long as he was allowed to be part of the family and was given love and (daily) exercise. He gets along super with our other two dogs. He entertains himself half the time with his tennis ball. He will throw it for himself and go fetch it for himself; he can even bounce it and catch it on the concrete patio. He’s pretty amazing! Absolutely no food or treat aggression, he’s oblivious to hands in his bowl etc. Great meal time manners! He sits while you put food down and waits until you tell him to “go ahead”. He’s still perfecting “stay”, “sit”,” leave it” He loves to sleep on your lap or curl up near you once he’s worn out for the day. He was previously kenneled at night, but we have let him sleep with the other dogs on the foot of our bed or in their dog beds in our bedroom for almost a month now. He would prefer a home where he could sleep on the bed, your feet would not be cold all winter! He’s a great snuggler at night. We have been kenneling him during the day when we are at work and he goes right in. He is really a treat all around! He’s one of the funniest dogs I have ever met, his facial expressions are so awesome! We have left him alone in the house unsupervised for short periods of time so far and no problems at all. He still needs some patience and time with walking on a leash. He barks at the mail woman and anyone that knocks on the door but his disposition once someone comes into the house is very friendly. I haven’t seen him with children yet, but the previous temporary owners said he was really good, even with their toddlers. If you are willing to make a “fur”ever commitment and do some basic training and just give love and attention every day, Beckham would make it so worth your while! Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered).
