Hello my name is Tara. I am in Fort Lauderdale, FL and am available for adoption. I am a frisky/senior dog who has a lot of personality. I like to get my way most of the time (of course). I was adopted about 4 years ago through the American Eskimo Rescue to a fellow "Older Lady" in Alabama. My owner fell recently and had to go into a nursing home, and I couln't come along!! :-( So my mom's daughter had to put me in a kennel for 10 days until I was wisked away by a nice lady who drove me down to sunny Florida!! There, she met up with my foster parents and I have been here over a month.

I really like my foster home. I went to the vet when I got here because I had such a bad cough. I got medicine for that and am better now!! :-) The vet said other than my cough I was in pretty good shape for an old girl like me! I also had no possesions when I got here, not even a collar, so my foster daddies took me on a shopping spree and I have a sparkly new pink collar and harness to match!! I love to walk around the neighborhood once a day and show it off. When they tell me I am about to go on my walk I start barking and dancing around!! However, if I don't go on my walk I still bark, but I stare you down until I convince you to take me, remember I like to get my way. I am not much for toys because I don't have all of my teeth, which by the way causes my toungue to stick out of my mouth...sometimes. I like being on the couch where everyone is setting to be the center of attention.

I am good about using the bathroom outside, but sometime when I'm out there I forget why I'm out there since I'm so excited. Therefore, when I come back inside sometimes I have an accident....blush. So the best thing is to take me out every couple of hours if you can.

I would be best suited for a home that doesn't have small kids because I can't play rough. I need a home that is going to be my forever home. I have been moved around a lot latley and I am ready to be settled. Please consider adopting me, I have a lot to offer a loving family!!

Thank you so much for reading my story,

Tara, Whoof!!

Good with Dogs

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
