UPDATE:
Oliver may have some neurological deficits that limit his potential to learn. He has no other medical issues that could cause his behavior. He was neglected and abused before coming into rescue. He was an OS from Indiana and had originally been purchased from a pet store (he's likely a puppy mill dog). When his family did not learn about the eskie breed and could not deal with his behavior, he was confined to a garage. When I picked him up, he had a small choke chain that was matted into his fur and had to be cut out. He also has one front leg that is slightly crooked and the vet thinks he may have broken his leg at some point but never was taken to have it properly set. It does not cause him pain now and the vet says he will not need any special care for it in his lifetime. Oliver was not socialized  in his original home and efforts to resocialize him in rescue has had
mixed results.  He is very unpredictable and may be unsafe for a new family.

_________________________________

Hello, my name is Oliver and I am a  neutered, miniature male American Eskimo dog. I am not the same sad dog that came into rescue …I have found a new lease on life and learned many new things! I am only 20 lbs. but I have a big personality. I am mostly white with a faint amount of cream color and my foster Mom believes I am a pure breed Eskie. I am housetrained and have not had any accidents in the house. I have not had the best start in life and still need lots of TLC. My original family did not give me much attention, kept me in a garage and eventually decided they didn’t want me so they gave me to relatives. The relatives did the right thing to help me by calling ERU to find me a new home.
.
I am a healthy dog and am current on all shots and heartworm/flea & tick prevention. I had an injury to one of my front legs in the past but it does not keep me from running at lightning fast speed and playing for hours. The vet said I should be fine for life and not need any special medical treatment or surgery for my leg.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
