Blizzard
Blizzard is a stunning 4-year-old bear-type Eskie who was so appreciative of his rescue that he gave all three members of his foster family kisses on the face before they all left the shelter.  He was a bit skittish at first – mostly to fast movements or loud noises, but he settled down within hours and was proving himself to be a very intelligent, affectionate, talented, obedient Velcro dog.  He also thinks he is a 16-lb lap dog.  He loves cuddling and being pet – he’ll even shove his head under your arm or hand if you stop.  He could stand to gain a few pounds so his foster family will be working on that.  He LOVES going for walks (and is great on a leash) and regularly jumps to eye level with excitement when he thinks or knows he is going for a walk so he could easily clear a fence of considerable height.  We’re not sure if he can be trusted alone in a fenced yard.  We have been warned by his previous owner as well as animal control officers that he is a runner if he gets loose.  He ripped the leash right out of his foster mother’s hand (he’s evidently quite strong for a 16-pounder) when she was walking him the second day but he came back to her when she called him.  He gets along with all the foster dogs in his foster home and was exposed to a cat for a few minutes and didn’t seem too interested, but no guarantees on that.  A 4 ½-year old is part of the family during the week and he was still a bit skittish when she left, so we’ll have to update how he is with her when she gets back.  We doubt there will be any problems.  His foster mother would love to share more with you as he gets more and more comfortable and more of his personality emerges, if you think you might be interested in becoming his “forever” family.  His foster father thinks he’s so perfect that he wants to keep him, so that should tell you something.

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
