Hi, my name is Bella. I just recently moved from a shelter in South Carolina to my foster mom’s house in eastern North Carolina. My family took me to the shelter because I was heartworm positive. I wish someone had told them about the gentle kill method of treatment for heartworms (http://www.eskierescuers.org/info/display?PageID=11624). My foster mom has started my treatment, and I feel great. The nice people at ERU will continue to provide my treatment until I test heartworm negative.
I am also what they call a senior because the shelter estimated my age at 12 years old. But I say you are as young as you feel, and I feel pretty young! I love to play fetch and catch. I will catch my ball and bring it back and drop it right by your feet. I can make some pretty amazing catches too! It is lots of fun. After some playtime, I would love to curl up in your lap and snooze or if you prefer, I will sleep on the floor by your feet.
I get along with other dogs and all people. My foster mom doesn't have any cats, but a nice lady let me spend the night with her on the way to NC, and I didn't bother her cats at all. I am housetrained and walk well on a leash. Like most Eskies, I will alert you when someone is at the door. I would make a great companion, as I am quite smart and a good listener. Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids
Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.
If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers. There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
