Learn more about the American Eskimo Dog.
Hi, my name is Squiggles! I'm a 10-year old miniature American Eskimo girl who weighs 27 pounds (a little overweight, so I could stand to lose a few pounds). My sister Q-Tip is also listed on this site, and we're looking to be adopted together because we've been together all our lives and really depend on one another! Don't you think we have the cutest names? :o) I'm not spayed, but because of my age that isn't a problem. I AM current on all my vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. I'm housebroken too. The vet says I have a collapsing trachea, which isn't a problem as long as I get watched after. My foster mommy supervises my exercise and makes sure I rest occasionally and get plenty of water during playtime. I have to be careful with my chew treats, because they could get stuck in my throat. If I appear congested or start coughing or wheezing, my foster mommy gives me Vicks 44 (the nice vet says that's OK). That's why I haven't been spayed, as the use of anesthesia might be too risky. Like my sister Q-Tip, I'm very shy with new people and take some time to warm up to them. I haven't been around kids so we're not sure how I'd be with them. I've gotten used to the kitty in the house, but sometimes I tend to play a bit rough with her (I think she secretly likes that!). I'm great with other dogs, though I'm pretty submissive, and I REALLY rely on my sister to be my protector and companion. Neither of us likes thunderstorms, so we need a home with someone who will love us and protect us from that terrible thunder! My sister and I are very sweet and, as you can see, quite beautiful! Wouldn't you like to have us in your life? We are waiting for our new forever family--will that be you? Won't you give us a chance at a wonderful life? If you are interested in us, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad" if we're not local to you. This is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain distance to get us to you! We're in San Antonio, TX with our foster mommy, Cher. If you would like to know more about us, please send an e-mail right away! Please contact Liz at: liz@eskierescuersunited.org for more information on me! You can also go to our web site at: www.eskierescuersunited.org and fill out an adoption application for me! Thank you and WOOF! Squiggles!
Eskie Rescuers United
|
Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.
If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.
There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
