Learn more about the American Eskimo Dog.
Hi, my name is Lobo! I'm a 10-year YOUNG American Eskimo gentleman. My foster parents are surprised at how well-mannered I am, but they shouldn't be, as I like to think of myself as the Cary Grant or Gary Cooper of the Eskie world. I am a bit on the chunky side, so my foster parents have me on a diet. I'm neutered, current on all my vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm, flea and tick prevention. I'm housebroken and am very calm and laidback. I love to sleep on my foster parents' bed, and I stay in the same place all night--you can't say that about those young buckaroos out there! I get along with dogs and cats and am good with kids as well, but I have no interest in toys. My previous owner had my coat shaved down before he turned me over to a shelter. Well, at least I had a nice new haircut for these great folks at ERU when they picked me up. I don't have much to say because I go with the flow, and I do it in style! I'm a real sweetheart of a fella and am looking for a nice home with pretty much anyone who wants a mini polar bear to love, and who will give me a couch to nap on and a comfortable bed to sleep on. What more could a guy ask for? :o) I would make a great companion for an older person, and I am eligible to be adopted for a lower fee through Eskie Rescuers United's "New Leash on Life" Senior program. (To find out more about this program, please go to: Senior Eskies and Senior Humans.) If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact Deborah at: Deborah@eskierescuersunited.org. Better yet, you can go to our web site at: www.eskierescuersunited.org and fill out an adoption application for me! There is an adoption fee required, and whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. I'm in Munster, IN with my foster daddy, Kevin. To get me to you, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad," which is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain portion of the transport. (We always ask that you, as the adopter, help out by taking the final leg.) If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you may have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Also, please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs. Thank you and WOOF! and#9829;Loboand#9829;
