Hi, my name is Silver. I'm a VERY beautiful miniature-sized Eskie female with a soft and extremely luxurious silver-white coat of fur. This is actually rather surprising, because for just about all of the 10 years of my life I was kept as an outdoor dog, used to breed litter after litter of puppies. Since I WAS kept outdoors, I became infected with heartworms and am now undergoing treatment for it. But I'll be as good as new in no time (well, maybe around the end of October). Because I was used by my previous owners only to produce puppies all my life, I didn't receive the proper socialization I should have. But this is just sometimes with other dogs--at least until I've had a chance to be around them and get to know them. I'm doing just fine now around my foster mommy's own two female Eskies, and I tolerate Budy well enough (the other foster dog here, who is also up for adoption and is listed on this website). Around people, I'm as sweet and affectionate a dog as you could ever want! I follow my foster mommy around everywhere she goes, and I even sleep on her head every night! HeeHee! (She doesn't mind that at all.) When she's at work during the day, I'm content to stay in my crate until she gets home to let me out--you know, so I can continue shadowing her every step! My foster mommy says I'm a great little girl and a definite snuggle bunny! I would make an excellent companion for an older person, and I am eligible to be adopted for a lower fee through Eskie Rescuers United's "New Leash on Life" Senior program. To learn more, please visit our website: Senior Program. I like to ride in the car and go for long leisurely walks. Just think how much attention we'll get when all your friends and neighbors see us together and they see how GORGEOUS I am! If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact Wanda: wanda@eskierescuers.org. You can also visit our website and sign-up to fill out an adoption application and learn more about our adoption process. Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. I'm in Edgewater, MD with my foster mommy, Cheryl. To get me to you, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad," which is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain portion of the transport. (We always ask that you, as the adopter, help out by taking the final leg.) If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you may have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). There is a $150 adoption fee for me, and please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs. Thank you and WOOF!
