About Levi

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Rescue ID: 05-137
  • Housetrained: Yes
Hi, my name is Levi! I'm a small standard-sized American Eskimo male who is about 4 years old and weighs 26 pounds. Don't you think I'm just so handsome and adorable?!

I was just recently neutered. I'm current on all my vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. I am also housebroken, though I still tend to mark my territory (my mommy is working with me on that, and I'm sure it will stop now that I'm neutered).

We think I'm allergic to flea bites, so it's very important that I be kept on monthly flea and tick prevention, which Eskie Rescuers United always does with all their foster dogs anyway. I really enjoy going for car rides, and I do pretty well on the leash when we're out walking. I'm not crazy about being crated, but once I'm in there I settle down soon enough. (Once we get this marking thing under control, my foster mommy doesn't think I'll even need to be crated.)

I get along well with my 3 foster siblings. I don't really play with them (I mostly just let them be), but when we're napping we all lie together, like one big white shag carpet! Groovy, man! We're not sure how I would do with cats, but my foster mommy has 2 bunnies and I just ignore them, so I'd probably be fine with cats also.

I'm great with older kids, and I meet new people without any problems. I just like to bark at them! (That's my way of making sure they know I'm alive! HeHe!) I'm very affectionate, and I love lots of attention. My foster mommy thinks that in time I could become a snuggler, though probably would never be a lap dog. I don't sleep on the bed (that might be because my mommy's own Eskie is up there and is kind of jealous of her human), but I do sleep next to the bed, on the same side that my foster mommy is on!

My foster mommy thinks I'm a funny little dog, because I moan when you rub my belly. Hey, it feels so good that I just have to let you know how much I enjoy it! :o) At feeding time, I jump around on my hind legs and move my front paws up and down like I'm waving. It's my way of reminding you not to forget to feed me too! I do have to fess up to one bad habit, though--I try to get up on the counter. Maybe I'm just trying to help my foster mommy get our food ready, but she doesn't seem to appreciate my offer to help, and she's working with me to correct this.

I don't especially like having my collar pulled on (like when my foster mommy is holding me back from going out the open door). i can be hyper sometimes, and could definitely use some obedience training classes. My foster mommy thinks that with some strong--and patient--guidance, I will make you a really good pet, because I'm such a sweetie.

I'm a terrific little guy who is waiting SO patiently for my new forever family to find me. Won't you consider adopting me and giving me a chance at a wonderful new life? If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact Wanda at: wanda@eskierescuersunited.org. You can also go to our web site at: www.eskierescuersunited.org and fill out an adoption application for me.

There is an adoption fee required, and whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. I'm in Edgewater, MD with my foster mommy, Cheryl.

To get me to you, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad," which is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain portion of the transport. (We always ask that you, as the adopter, help out by taking the final leg.) If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you may have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Also, please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Thank you and WOOF!

Levi!
