Hi, my name is Splenda! My foster daddy named me that because I'm so very sweet and gave him demure little kisses the very first time we met! I'm a 2- to 3-year old standard-sized American Eskimo girl who weighs 21 pounds. (I could probably stand to gain a little weight, and my daddy is making sure I eat good nutritional meals.) The people at the shelter I came from said I was found in a ditch by the side of the road, alongside a dead Eskie that apparently was hit by a car. We don't know if that other Eskie was my brother or just a friend that, like me, may have been abandoned by its previous owners. I'm spayed, current on all my vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention, as well as on flea and tick prevention. I wasn't housebroken when my foster daddy first got me, but he had a lot of patience with me, and because I'm so smart I learned very quickly how to tell him when I needed to go outside to potty. He's VERY proud of me! My beautiful fur coat was pretty badly matted when I was rescued and it looks like someone hacked some of it off (especially along my back side), but it will grow back soon enough. My foster daddy says I have the whitest cottony-soft fur he's ever felt, and he just loves to stroke and pet me! In return, I give him my sweet little kisses. :o) I'm very good with my doggy foster sisters and brothers, but I get pretty excitable around the cats here, so maybe it would be better if I were in a house without cats. Although my foster daddy doesn't have any human kids, I get along extremely well with the neighbor kids when we go on our walks, which I really enjoy VERY much! I walk very well on a leash, but I'm a bit of a roamer, so I need to be kept on leash or in a fenced-in yard. I also ride well in the car-I usually stretch out on the back seat and go right to sleep! I'm crate- and kennel-trained, but I'm also a very good jumper, so low pet gates aren't very effective in keeping me contained! I'm generally pretty quiet, except when I'm hungry or I need to go outside. Then you'll know for sure that I'm here! Sometimes when the other dogs here start barking (like when the doorbell rings), I'll join in the chorus with them! I'm very sweet and lovable!!! Wouldn't you love to have me in your home and give me a chance at a wonderful life? I know I'm waiting for my new forever family-will that be you? You can see how beautiful I am. You'll be the envy of all your friends and neighbors when they see you walking down the street with such a gorgeous girl by your side! :o) If you're interested in me, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad" if I'm not local to you. This is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain distance to get me to you! I'm in Centreville, VA with my foster daddy, Bill. If you would like to know more about me, please send an e-mail right away! Please contact Liz at: liz@eskierescuersunited.org for more information on me! You can also go to our web site at: www.eskierescuersunited.org and fill out an adoption application for me! Thank you and WOOF! Splenda!
Eskie Rescuers United
|
Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.
If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.
There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
