About Austin

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Rescue ID: 04-014
  • Housetrained: Yes
Hello, my name is Austin! I'm a standard-sized 3-year old American Eskimo boy who stands 15" tall and weighs 38 pounds. I used to weigh more, but my foster family has me on a diet and exercise program, and I'm trimming down very nicely!

I'm neutered, current on all my shots, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. I'm housebroken and can be crated very easily.

I would do best in a home where I'm the only pet, but I'm definitely a people dog. (Sometimes I think I'm a person!) However, I'd probably do best in an adult home without small kids. We're not sure how I'd be around kitties; I was around some a while ago and just glanced at them and walked away. I REALLY enjoy running in my foster mommy and daddy's FENCED-IN backyard. There are so many neat things to explore! I also love to go for walks, and I'm very well behaved on a leash. I'm not very talkative-just enough to remind you now and again that I'm here.

I'm really a soft-hearted guy who likes sitting next to you while you pet my soft fur and enjoy my companionship. I like being brushed, even though I was almost completely covered with mats when my foster mommy brought me home. You'd never know it to look at me now--don't I look very handsome in these new pictures of me?

I don't know the commands "sit" or "down" very well yet. No one ever loved me enough to teach them to me, but my foster mommy is working very hard to help me learn my manners! I will come when you call me, just because I always want to be near you. I need a forever home that can be firm (but loving) with me, take me on walks every day, and be strict with my diet until I reach my optimal weight. I'd really love you to adopt me and pet me all day long! Won't you give me a chance at a new life with you in a loving, caring home?

If you are interested in me, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad" if I'm not local to you. This is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain distance to get me to you! I'm in Clinton, IL with my foster mommy, Angela. If you would like to know more about me, please send an e-mail right away!

Please contact Leah at: leah@eskierescuers.org for more information on me!

You can also go to our web site at: www.eskierescuers.org and fill out an adoption application for me!

Thank you and WOOF!

Austin!

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
