Learn more about the American Eskimo Dog.
Hi, my name is Liebling (pronounced Leeb-ling, it's German for sweetheart)! I'm a lively 4-month old American Eskimo girl who stands 12 inches tall and weighs just 12 pounds. I will probably be a miniature or a small standard-sized Eskie when I'm fully grown. My fur is white, with a cute sprinkling of freckles on my nose and splashes of biscuit coloring on my back. My foster daddy says I have the softest puppy fur he's ever felt! I think I'm an awfully darling little girl-just take a look at my pictures and see if you don't agree! :) I'm already spayed, current on all my vaccinations and on flea and tick medication. I've been learning a few new things since I got to my new foster home. Our main goal right now is something my humans call housebreaking. Once in a while I get so busy I don't realize I have to go NOW, but they just pick me up and take me outside. I do love to go outside for potty time, though sometimes I don't want to come back in, because there's so much to see and bark at out there! My favorite game of all when I'm outside is Tag-I LOVE chase games and can play them all day long. Because I love to run and play so much, it would probably be best if my new home had a fenced-in yard. I'm a P...U...P...P...Y...!!!! I'm sure you know what that means-I'm full of spunk, energy and play. In fact, I have 2 speeds, sleep and full tilt! Just like any other pup I love to play, so I sure hope you have another doggie around for me to play with-or else have lots of one-on-one time to spend with me. Chewing is a favorite pastime of mine, and I'm not terribly choosy. I like rawhide treats, puppy toys (the squeakier the better!) and rope toys (even the ones for the bigger dogs). It might be best to keep an eye on what I'm chewing on though; I tried my foster mommy's shoe last week and ended up spending some time in puppy jail-Ooops! I sleep in a crate at night so I don't get into mischief or have any accidents while my humans are sleeping. I have my buddy Thor to sleep with, so I don't get lonely. (He's a whole 1 year old, and he's been helping me learn the rules of the house.) I will definitely need obedience training-in fact, I think it will be a lot of fun for us to do together. I would do really well with a family that has children, especially if the kids were 7 or older and could make sure I get plenty of exercise. Do you have room in your heart and home for a little girl like me who has such a winning personality? I sure hope so, because I'm waiting eagerly for my forever family. If you're interested in me, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad" if I'm not local to you. This is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain distance to get me to you! I'm in Clinton, IL with my foster mommy, Angela. If you would like to know more about me, please send an e-mail right away! Please contact Liz at: liz@eskierescuersunited.org for more information on me! You can also go to our web site at: www.eskierescuersunited.org and fill out an adoption application for me! Thank you and WOOF! Liebling!
Eskie Rescuers United
|
Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.
If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.
There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
