Hi, my name is SnoFlake and I'm just a wee thing -- the perfect size for cuddling and snuggling! I turned 7 years old on Valentine's Day and I'm a 15-pound sweetheart... if you're a human that is, so if you're one of those, we'll get along GREAT! I do fine with cats too because I pretty much ignore them. Other dogs don't like me very much because I like to tell them off when they try to get more attention than me. I don't bite them but I let them know that I don't like to share you and that's not very fair to them, so it's best if I'm the only dog in the household. I'm very quiet and don't bark very much so I'll do fine in an apartment or a house. I was surrendered to a Humane Society by my senior humans who moved to a place where they don't allow pets. I was so scared to be left on my own after all those years of loyalty, to be dumped like that and put in a cage, yikes! The wonderful lady at the HS thought I would do better in rescue and in a foster home while I got ready for adoption so they contacted ERU and wow, here I am! And they were right. I'm not scared anymore and my foster mom says I'm a cutie patootie and that I'm fun, sweet, loyal and affectionate! I don't give kisses but I do like to cuddle and curl in tight... especially under your hand so you can give me tickles and belly rubs. My coat is not as long as most Eskies but everyone says I'm a purebreed eskie, but that I wouldn't win any points in the show ring. Harumph! Well that might be true for Westminster, but I could grab first prize in the cuteness contest any day! You're going to have to put a coat on me in the winter though because I don't have as full a coat. I'm very good at letting you play dress-up with me, I really do like the attention. I'm up-to-date on all my vaccinations and I tested negative for heartworm. I'm on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. I'm scheduled to be spayed on April 19th and I'll also be getting doggie dental so I can show off my bright, sweet Eskie smile! I'll be all ready to go a few days after that. So if you put an application for me now, you can get ahead of the line-up! Speaking of the vet, it's important for you to know that before I was rescued I had never been to a vet before, ever! In fact, I didn't have many experiences outside the house - my former humans were "home-bodies" who didn't take me anywhere so I wasn't "well socialized". They lived in the country and I didn't get to explore much beyond the porch. But all that's changed now -- I'm a social butterfly tee hee. Now I get to experience all these new things and I have to tell you - I really like doing most of them. Well, except for the vet - I did try to give him a manicure when he checked my private spots - goodness me, no one's ever done that before! I do love going to the Pet Store - wow wee, that is fun! And car rides - yippideedoda, I sure love those! I wasn't too keen on wearing a collar at first but I'm used to it now. The leash thing was more fun for me than my foster mom at first - she called me a "whirling dervish", whatever that is! But now we go for walkies every day and she is just so proud of me because I walk nicely beside her and never pull on the leash. I'm a perfect lady. She says I'm "smart as a whip". One fun thing I do to get attention - because I don't like to bark much, I'll jump in place. My foster mom tries to ignore me because she says it's not good to encourage attention-getting antics, but I can tell she's giggling and trying to hide her laughter. I go up and down, and I get a lot of air too -- boing, boing, boing -- in place. Don't go anywhere, just UP, with a goofy grin on my cute little face. I'm a really fun and sweet little girl, but I need to be the only doggie in your life and I need you to be on your lonesome or just with other adults. Mature children might be fine, but little ones will compete for your attention and I really want to be your little girl. It's ok to have grandkids visit though - I'm fine with that. I love my foster parents, but I'd really like them without all these other dogs :o) or even better, to find me my very own forever home. Are you the human for me? I'm very little trouble and I'll reward you with love and cuddles! Please contact Deborah at: deborah@eskierescuers.org for more information on me or you can email my foster mom Susan at: susana@eskierescuers.org. You can also go to our web site at: www.eskierescuers.org and fill out an adoption application for me! There is an adoption fee required, and whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. I'm in West Bloomfield, MI with my foster mommy, Susan. To get me to you, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad," which is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain portion of the transport. (We always ask that you, as the adopter, help out by taking the final leg.) If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you may have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Also, please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs. Thank you and WOOF! SNO-FLAKE!!!!
