Hi, my name is Snuggles--can you guess why? :o) I'm a miniature-sized American Eskimo female who is about 2 years old and weighs 17 pounds. I will be spayed very soon, right after I recover from this little respiratory infection I must have caught while I was at the shelter. I'm current on all my vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm, flea and tick prevention. I'm mostly housebroken, though sometimes I still have little "wetting accidents," but my nice foster mommy is working very diligently with me and says I'm definitely improving. I'm getting used to walking on a leash, and I never pull on it. We don't know yet if I will tolerate being crated, but my foster mommy will be testing that out soon. As far as riding in the car, if you don't want me to do the driving for you, then you will need to make sure I am properly restrained! (And I don't mind that.) I have to tell you, I'm not always good with other dogs. I do pretty well with my Eskie foster siblings, but that's because they're bigger than I am. It's the dogs that are smaller than I that I don't seem to care for. (Can a little girl like myself be described as having a Napoleon complex? HeHe!) We don't know how I'd do around cats, since my foster mommy doesn't have any, but I didn't pay any attention to the ones I saw at the vet's office, so maybe they won't be a problem. I could definitely stand to benefit from some obedience training, and it might be better if my new family had previous experience owning Eskies. I get along well with humans, because I like anyone who will pay attention to me! Though I haven't had any problems with kids, my foster mommy thinks I would do better in a home without youngsters. You see, sometimes I can be a bit feisty. My foster mommy is helping me with a little "attitude adjustment," but I will need someone who will be willing to continue working with me on this. Though I'm not food aggressive, I AM food protective--especially when it comes to my treats! My foster sister, Princesse (who is also listed here on this website and is available for adoption), likes to try to steal my treats, so I'm only trying to protect what's mine! I also need a stay-at-home owner who can take me outside when I need to tinkle. I'm just a little girl, and I don't have a very big bladder! I'm a smart lass. I know the "sit" command and we're now working on "stay." I don't need to learn the meaning of "come," because I will be your shadow and follow you everywhere already! I'm very alert, but I'm not an excessive barker, like some dogs I know. I'm up for anything you like to do--go outside and play, go for walks or to the dog park, ride in the car, even sit in your lap and type on the computer. (I'm trying to write that great American novel people keep talking about, but it's kind of hard to do without opposable thumbs!) I even like to play dress-up. I'm quite the fashionista, you know! My foster mommy has taken me to all the finest doggy boutiques in town and bought me a wardrobe that's oh-so-tasteful! (I really need these clothes, because my own coat, though quite pretty, isn't very thick, and it's already getting pretty darn cold here in Michigan.) Once I'm all dressed up I like to prance and show off my new duds to everyone in the neighborhood. And because I'm so cute, people just gravitate to me. Watch out, Jennifer Aniston! Of course, I'm very good in the bathtub, even though it takes a little coaxing to get me in at first. Once in I'm very still and well behaved while you bathe me. And afterwards I love being brushed and pampered! I'm also a very playful little girl who is lots of fun to be with. When I calm down, I'm quiet and good and become a warm, fuzzy cuddler. I'm VERY affectionate, and I love to be carried around. When I'm in your arms I like to snuggle my nose into your neck and sometimes give you sweet little Eskie kisses! You see, I love being with my humans, and I'm very sweet to them. I am just full of spunkiness and personality. My foster mommy says if you look up the word 'cute' in the dictionary you'll find my picture right there! She says I'm a real pistol, but also a real joy--and tons of fun--to have around. If you are willing to put in the time to get me trained properly and help me curb my feistiness, I'll reward you back 1000%! Won't you please adopt me so I can be in my own forever home in time for the holidays? If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact Wanda at: wanda@eskierescuersunited.org or feel free to e-mail my foster mommy directly at: susan@eskierescuersunited.org. You can also go to our web site at: www.eskierescuersunited.org and fill out an adoption application for me. There is an adoption fee required, and whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I?m being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. I'm in West Bloomfield, MI with my foster mommy, Susan. To get me to you, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad," which is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain portion of the transport. (We always ask that you, as the adopter, help out by taking the final leg.) If I?m not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you may have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Also, please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs. Thank you and WOOF! Snuggles!
