About Avery

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Rescue ID: 05-011
  • Housetrained: Yes
Hello, my name is Avery! I'm an 11-month old American Eskimo male who weighs about 25 pounds and will be standard-sized when I'm fully grown. My foster mommy thinks I'm just the cutest puppy, with a beautiful and thick fur coat! Take a look at my pictures and see if you don't agree! :o) I was abandoned in a shelter when I was only 4 months old, but I have come a long way since then.

I'm neutered, current on all my vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention, as well as on flea and tick prevention. I'm mostly potty trained (and doing great!) and am also crate-trained. I am pretty good on the leash and I ride well in the car, but prefer to be in your lap the whole ride!

I'm learning how to play with my foster sisters, since I don't appear to have been well-socialized in my previous life. I'm still a bit rough, so my foster mommy thinks it would be best if I were in a home where I am the only dog (we don't know about cats, though). Although very wary of strangers, I warm up quickly. Due to my early experiences, I need to be with an owner who is experienced with the American Eskimo breed and will help me with my obedience training and socialization. For that reason my foster mommy doesn't think it would be a good idea for me to be in a household with kids.

I am super-loving and want all the attention you can spare. I just LOVE belly rubs and neck scratches, and I love to give kisses! My previous foster mommy says I should be in a home where I can be around people all the time, because I am starved for love and will crawl into your lap whenever I get the chance!!

I am a typical Eskie puppy who loves to play! My favorite toy is a tennis ball, which I love to throw to myself and then bring to you to throw for me. But I do appreciate a good nap too. Since I am a puppy, I LOVE to chew!!! I really like Nylabones, so if you give me those I'll try not to chew on things I'm not supposed to. I don't like to share my toys with other doggies, but I will share with you once I get to know you. I am very gentle when I play with you! I am such a super-sweet boy, who is just looking for the perfect loving family to teach me how to be the perfect dog... will that be you? Please hurry! I will be so excited to meet you!

If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact Leah at: leah@eskierescuersunited.org or feel free to e-mail my foster mommy directly at: judy@eskierescuersunited.org. You can also go to our web site at: www.eskierescuersunited.org and fill out an adoption application for me.

There is an adoption fee required, and whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. I'm in Mooresville, NC with my foster mommy, Judy.

To get me to you, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad," which is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain portion of the transport. (We always ask that you, as the adopter, help out by taking the final leg.) If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you may have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Also, please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Thank you and WOOF!

Avery!
