*** New Brighton, PA (Near Pittsburgh)***: Sully was surrendered to the Western PA Humane Society because he was not good with the children in his home. I have taken a few weeks to observe Sully in different situations and I think he's a great boy. He would do well in a house either without children or with older kids that know good doggie manners. The only issue I have had with Sully is he doesn't like to have his collar grabbed. I suspect that the kids in his previous home used to drag him around by it. He is fine if you pet around his neck but if you take a hold of his collar he will get nervous and start to grab at your hand with his mouth. This can make getting a leash on him challenging however he can be bribed with treats. I think because of this he hasn't had any leash training and would greatly benefit from someone who can take the time to work with him on these issues. Sully is very much a puppy and has a TON of energy! One of his favorite games is fetch. Most of the time he will actually bring the toy back to you too! He really likes to chew so providing him with lots of things to entertain him will be important. I give him cow hooves and bully sticks. Because American Eskimo Dogs tend to stay puppies for a long time, Sully will need a home that will be able to handle his high energy level for years. He would probably make an excellent agility dog. Sully went with us to the annual Celebration of Eskies in Maryland this year. There were 80 people and 72 other dogs there. Sully did really well with all the strangers and had a lot of admirers. He rode well in the car for the 4.5 hour trip as well. If you're interested in Sully and would like more information, please contact Cheryl: cherilynn@petrochko.com.
