About Chula & Zeus

  • Housetrained: Yes
This is the story of Chula and Zeus: Chula (Spanish slang for "cute") was picked up from a grocery story parking lot in Austin, Texas, where she was just "dumped". Nancy, who owned an all-breed rescue, saw this deplorable incident and immediate picked her up and kept her for one year. Chula was sent to ERU in Shreveport, Louisiana as Nancy knew she had a better chance of being adopted at a pure-breed rescue. And that proved correct! Soon after, Chula was flown to her forever home in Colorado where she has changed the lives of not only her adopters, but her older Eskie brother (Zeus) and the adopter's Eskie (Nikita). She also has proven that Texans love snow!!

Zeus' age was determined to be 8 to 10 years old and he had some fatty tissue deposits and cataracts and showed signs of being terribly mistreated at his former home. He was so afraid of bowls that he only ate his food off the floor. Zeus's foster, Mary, was going out of town but didn't want to kennel him so the couple that were in process of adopting Chula, graciously offered to "dog sit". Well, the rest is history! They fell in love with him, adopted and changed his name to "Little Bear". A week later, Chula arrived and in a short while Chula and Nikita are best friends and Little Bear has even learned how to play and eat & drink from his own doggie bowls!

Little Bear has a renewed life due to Chula's playfulness, Nikita's loving spirit, and most of all...the patience, love and care from two wonderful people who adopted TWO Eskies from ERU, Sandra & Bob.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
