UPDATE 8/28/08: I'm free, I'm free, I'm free!!! I'm very excited . . .about everything. I was finally pulled from the shelter and I am so happy to be able to run around and play with my new foster sisters. In fact, I would like to play with them all the time and don't need sleep. They do get tired out, but that's OK, I'll play with the other one or with the people. I think I would be best in a home with other dogs because I really do love the company.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE balls. We aren't allowed tennis balls because my foster sisters shred them. But, I don't tear up mine and if I could, I would carry a ball around in my mouth all the time . . .except when I throw it so I can chase it, or when I'm playing with my fursisters. Maybe you can teach me to fetch. I'm very smart and enthusiastic, so I bet I could learn lots of tricks.

I absolutely love the people too. As soon as I met each of them, I ran up to say hello and give kisses. I could use some lessons about not jumping up, though. I'm a little bigger than other eskies and might have some growing still, and I have lots of energy, so I will need someone to teach me manners. I like children, but I'm still a little rambunctious, so until I'm a little older, I think it would be best if I'm in a house without small children. I might knock them down with my enthusiastic kisses. But, when I do calm down, I think I'm a lapdog. I want to pile up on top of the people. Good thing they don't mind.

I am already being taught about how to live in a house. I am learning that it is NOT ok to put my paws on the table and I am learning where it is ok to potty. I haven't got it all figured out yet, but I'm pretty smart and I think I'll learn quickly if someone teaches me.

As you can see . . .I have the most beautiful face and I'm always smiling. I would smile more if I had my furever home. If you think you would like a smart, beautiful, energetic pup like me to come live with you, my people would love to hear from you. Me too!!

ORIGINAL POST: I am coming into rescue soon from a shelter in Eastern/Southern Marlyand. I am a little embarrassed about my haircut, but when I was found I was very dirty and mattted, so I had to be shaved to get clean. Even my tail is bald now. How embarrassing, but you can tell how lovely I'll be when my coat returns. I also had lots of ticks, and Maryland is Lyme central, so I'm being treated for Lyme Disease as a precaution. I'll need a test in 6 months to make sure I'm all cleared up.

The people at the shelter describe me as very playful and fun-loving. I love people and I love to play. Because I have lots of energy, some obedience training might be helpful. I've heard my foster family might do a little training with me.

I will be moving into my foster home on August 30, so check back later to find out more about me. But, I'm a cutie, so if you might want to take me to your furever home, be sure to put in an application early.

Good with Dogs

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
