Hi! My name is Vinny, and I am a very active, persistent, and energetic 3-year old Eskie-Pomeranian mix with a gorgeous, thick coat of beige, brown, cream, and white with hints of black. Because of my fur, I look larger than I am, weighing in at just over 15 pounds.  I could play all day long. I will fetch a ball for 2 hours straight, and I love tug-a-war with all sorts of toys. I also love to go on multiple walks every day.
My prior owner did not really discipline me, so I’m still in the process of learning, and this is very hard for me. I have male dominance traits, and I am very stubborn. If you don’t play with me, I will grab all of my toys and put them next to your feet or ON YOU, if you’re sitting on the couch or in a chair. I don’t particularly like the word, “No,” so I will test you to see if I can get my way. I am not socialized, so if you bring a person into your house and I see them, I bark very loudly and aggressively. It takes me a while to warm up and to trust any person.

From the Foster:
Vinny is a very special dog, and I have worked with him a lot. He is EXTREMELY intelligent, and he is a very loving dog who loves to face kiss and jump on you, out of both excitement and the yearning for attention. He will jump up in my work chair and put his arms around my face and bury it in kisses.  He is very very needy. He will follow you everywhere and when you sit down, he likes to sit in your lap with you. He’s a perfect companion!
His former family did not have him neutered, which can explain some of his male domineering tendencies, and these have diminished since he’s been neutered. However, he still has a dominant personality. Right now, he lives with 3 other dogs; however, because of his domineering tendancies, it’s best if he’s in a home with NO OTHER PETS.  Right now, he has a very large, fenced-in backyard where he loves to run around.
Vinny is not proper for a family who is gone all day long. He needs attention during the day, so please don’t submit an application if you’re at work and no one is home during the day. He sleeps well in his crate at night, but he doesn’t like to be cooped up during the day, and he “starves” every day for attention and love.
Vinny does not get along with small children.  So if you have kids, please do not apply.
Vinny needs to go to a family where someone will discipline him on a regular basis.
Vinny’s teeth have been professionally cleaned and he’s been vetted and is all up-to-date on checkup and vaccinations. He has 2 main talents: (1) can walk on his hind feet and stand for a long time, and (2) he can sit up with his paws at his sides.
If you’re interested in me and would like more information, please contact Julie Hummel at Julie@GoldsmithBanks.com. You can also fill out an adoption application.

Good with Dogs

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
